Just noticed that we topped 20K page views a very short while ago, which is convenient because neither Pike nor I have the first freaking clue for a blog topic today so I’ll just take this opportunity to profusely thank all our readers and commenters! You guys are quite wonderful and it is altogether too satisfying to watch those little numbers of page views and subscribers rise, and to get emails notifying me of comments made on my posts etc.

So yes, thank you very much, from both of us!

I didn't know what image to use so I used Pinkie Pie as a human not knowing what to do about my not knowing what to do and oh no I've gone cross-eyed

I suppose it is expected that I at least mention videogames on our My Little Pony image blog, yes? Well, I’ve been playing a ton of SimCity 4 the last few days and I had an interesting experience. Last night when I was finishing it up I looked around what I had wrought and thought “Yeah, that’s okay.” This morning when I went back to it, I thought “Oh wow, I am some sort of urban designing genius, this looks great!” I wonder what caused this discrepancy? Do you guys find you can feel differently about stuff like that if you give it some time, or are you more likely to feel it’s worse than you originally thought, as I generally am? Also if anyone’s interested I might provide a few screenshots as I go along! Not now though. Because I have none to hand and the game takes forever to load when your mod folder is three times the size of the game itself.

Also playing through Human Revolution, which is brilliant, and waiting for Dead Island, which sadly doesn’t look like it’s going to be the horrorfest I originally hoped for but does nevertheless have the potential, I think, to be an enjoyable zombie-slaying romp. And there’s always Project Zomboid for real zombie survival stuff!

  1. Nice job on 20k views!

But, really, you guys deserve it. We, your readers, come here for several reasons:

First and foremost, because we all like video games, both the types of, in the manner of which, both you and Pike do. Video games are a part of what defines our place in our generation on a larger scale; for most of us, they were a big part of our collective past, are part of our collective present, and continue to be a part of our future. We live through them, in a way that we aren’t living when we are merely punching a clock in a dead end cafeteria job (well, that’s how it was for some of us lol), and it’s nice to hear other people on the same wavelength.

Secondly, because you guys can actually write, and you are both enjoyable to read. Some of us followed Pike over here from her Aspect of the Hare/Clockwork Hare blog. We didn’t read Pike’s blogs just because hunters are the best class in WoW, or just because we are trying to break into the Linux world, or just because we wanted to be educated about the nitrate cycle in fish tanks (which was very interesting, btw) or because we think Redwall was a great series. We also read it because Pike made it fun to read! (I’m still waiting for the day when Pike finishes her Redwall-on-steampunk book, lol) Also, MA’s posts often convey a rare depth of thought not normally encountered outside of career academics.

Thirdly, not only are you guys fun to read, more often than not there’s some good substance on this blog! Between unrelenting nostalgia, introducing us to new games, piercing insights, and even plain old rants, this is good stuff. (It’s like X-Play, only about 10x better, and with clever use of My Little Pony rather than overly pervasive sarcasm.)

Fourth, and most importantly, has been your liberal use of relevant My Little Pony pictures. I await the day when your posts consist wholly of My Little Pony montages, and we are merely left to deduce the point from the continuity between the pictures (jk, btw).

Keep it going, and you’ll make another 20k easy. You guys ought to write a book or something…

TLDR: Gratz on ding! Keep it up!

    1. Bamos, thank you for leaving probably the kindest and most complementary comment I’ve ever seen on any blog. And thanks for being probably our biggest fan! We can always count on you to leave thoughtful questions and comments :D

As for the book– well, I hope to have that out very soon! (I know, I know, I’ve been saying that for months, but… I am getting closer! Mister Adequate is working on publishing a book too, by the way.)

  2. Congratulations to you two, you deserve it!

I sometimes look at things I did (Hardly in video games…but more sewing / drawing) and I can say “Well not to brag…but I -love- this!” …and sometimes all I want to do is hide under my pillow hehe.

And by looking at Pinkie Pie, it reminds me that I need to buy jewelry and eyebrow color for my costume next week. Thanks! *Zoom!*

  3. I was going to try and leave a super nice comment but Bamos pretty much covers everything. Foiled again!

But to reiterate the point, you two are both entertaining as all hell. Honestly, I haven’t even played half the things you guys talk about but I read it anyway because it’s damn fascinating.

You both have different perspectives and styles which makes for a breath of fresh air every post, so there’s no chance of stagnation unless you stop!

And the MLP certainly adds a unique flavour! :D

love you both and your work so keep it up <3
